When I first walked into the Alpine School building in 2011, I was amazed at the welcoming, supportive, inclusive environment of a Year 9 school. There was a buzz of excitement, a strong sense of community and pride in their school, and a program that engaged and challenged students, and I knew that this is where I wanted to work. I was lucky enough to get a job soon after, to start in 2012.
Through first completing a Diploma of Remedial Massage and owning my own business in this field, I saw the need in educating people on the importance of health and wellbeing, from a younger age than the clients that I would help. I then studied a double degree, a Bachelor of Sport and Outdoor Recreation and Bachelor of Education at Monash University, and began my career as a PE and Outdoor Education teacher in mainstream high schools. I thoroughly enjoy taking students into new outdoor environments, guiding them in new activities, supporting them when out of their comfort zone and encouraging their growth and learning.
I have continued my own learning, often combining it with my love of travel, by completing my Wilderness First Aid and Avalanche safety in Canada, Advanced Open Water Scuba diving in Thailand, Freediving Level 2 in Indonesia and Top Rope Climbing and Rescue in Arapiles.
I live in Bright with my husband and two children who all love the outdoors, adventure and travel as much as I do. We are often busy planning our next big or little trip!
