Generalist Teacher
Cari Ah Sam
I am a Generalist Teacher and have been part of the Alpine School Campus in Education Support and Teaching roles since 2017. I even had the privilege of completing my first teaching rounds at the campus and feel lucky to have been guided by colleagues with rich teaching backgrounds and experience. I began my education and teaching journey when undertaking study at Charles Sturt University studying a Bachelor of Applied Science (Adventure Ecotourism) soon followed by a Bachelor in Outdoor Education. I spent over 7 years freelance guiding and instructing in various activities including mountain biking, snowboarding, skiing, whitewater rafting and horse trail riding across Northeast Victoria and East Gippsland.
Working at the School for Student Leadership enabled me to build relationships with colleagues and students to best support our cohorts in their own individual journey both here at the school and beyond. I enjoy the balance between reflective and practical activities that enable students the opportunities to have authentic learning experiences. Residential living is also valuable in learning how to live with others and create a cohesive community of diverse individuals.
A passion for alpine environments means I now reside in Bright. In my spare time I will be lapping in the mountain bike park and in winter I spend much of my time with Mount Hotham Ski Patrol. I value the comradery from sharing these activities and the connection to community it provides.
